How to install Joomla using Fantastico De Luxe?

Step 1: Login to your cPanel account http://www.yoursite.com/cpanel

Step 2: Click on the Fantastico De Luxe Icon in your cpanel account.

Step 3: Under the “Content Management” section, Click on “Joomla”.

Step 4: On the right panel, select “New Installation”

Step 5: You’ll see a page as below.

Step 6: Fill in your directory details. If you want to install it on your root directory (www.yoursite.com) leave it blank else insert the directory (eg: /joomla). Fill out other information and click “Install Joomla”.

How to install joomla manually?

Step 1. Download Joomla Stable version 1.5+ for production website.

Step 2. Extract all content and upload it to (public_html or www folder). If you’re installing joomla on a subdirectory, upload the script on a sub-directory (e.g. /joomla)

Step 3. Start the installation by going to url: http://www.yoursite.com/ or http://www.yoursite.com/joomla (your sub-directory)

Step 4. Select the language of your site. Click ‘Next’

Step 5. Joomla script would make a pre-installation check to make sure whether your hosting account settings are compatible to joomla requirements. If everything is fine, Click ‘Next’

Step 9. Click ‘Autofind Ftp Path’. The path settings would be autofilled. You’ll get a message like the ftp settings are valid. Click ‘Next’

Step 10. Insert your site name, admin email and password.

Optional: You can also install sample data in your joomla installation or migrate data from other database using load migration script option

How to install templates/themes in Joomla?

Step 1. Download the joomla template (joomla theme) you like.

Step 2. Login to your adminstration template

Step 3. Click on Installer > Templates – Site (To change website design/template/theme)

or Click on Installer > Templates – Admin (To change Admin panel design/template/theme)

Step 4. Click on ‘browse’ option and select the .zip template file. Then click ‘Upload and Install’ option.

Step 5. When the file gets uploaded, click ‘Continue’

Step 6. You’ll be taken Template manager section of your admin panel. If you like the theme, press the ‘default’ button for the respective template.

Step 4. To create an article, go to ‘content’ section and click on ‘Article Manager’

How to backup your Joomla Website?

[a] To create a database backup:

Step 1. Login to your cpanel account

Step 2. Click on ‘Mysql Database’. Then click on ‘PhpMyAdmin’

Step 3. Select your Joomladatabase

Step 4. Click ‘Export’

Step 5. Select ‘all tables’

Step 6. Check data and structure property.

Step 7. Check ‘Save As’ Option

Step 8. Click ‘Go’ and save the file on your computer.

[b] To create a backup of Joomla files

Step 1. Take a timely backup of all the files in your joomla website root.

Step 2. Save them as per dates or maintain a log, So any edits made by you on the files, can be restored later.
